Hi, I’m KJ
I’m Karter, but you can call me KJ! I’m a Colorado native, proud cat mom to Salem and Binx, and someone who finds joy in helping people navigate life’s messy, beautiful challenges. With a background in the medical field and a heart for connection, I’m passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families build stronger relationships and rediscover hope through counseling. My time in the medical field taught me a lot about compassion, resilience, and how important it is to feel truly seen and heard.
I’m currently under the supervision of Natalie Hanks, LPC, LAC, RPT at Illuminate Play Therapy & Counseling.
When I’m not in session, you can usually find me in the mountains, at a live concert, or trying to keep my houseplants alive. You can also catch me laughing at my own dark jokes (because humor is a coping skill, right?). My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can show up as your full authentic self—because that’s where real growth happens. My approach to therapy is down-to-earth, compassionate, and collaborative—healing doesn’t have to be stiff or formal. It’s about being real, human, and honest together.
